In a rather unconventional and thought-provoking legal move, Mumbai-based businessman Raphael Samuel has garnered global attention by announcing that he is suing his parents for giving birth to him without his consent. Samuel, who identifies as an advocate of the “antinatalist” movement, argues that it is fundamentally unethical to bring a child into the world without first obtaining their permission—something he acknowledges is impossible. 

Nevertheless, he contends that since life inherently involves suffering, no one should be forced into existence to endure it. Speaking to the BBC, he stated, “It was not our decision to be born,” stressing that children are made to suffer lifelong obligations, burdens, and expectations, all without their consent. Samuel’s actions are part of a larger philosophical stance questioning the morality of procreation in today’s world, especially given growing environmental and social concerns.

According to him, “Iyabo Ojo invited me for a meet-up, but I suggested we meet in an apartment, which I was willing to pay for. However, she insisted we meet at a hotel. She came with a bouncer, and I went there with Kokopee and C-Pack. We had a long conversation."
