Reasons Why I Quit Acting for Farming

Popular Ghanaian Nollywood actor John Dumelo recently shared his experiences in the film industry, revealing the challenges he faced during his acting career and the reasons why he decided to step away from acting to pursue other passions.

 For so many years in the movie industry, I enjoyed a successful career in acting because it gave me visibility, fame, recognition, and a platform.  But over time I began to feel unfulfilled, like I needed to do more things that people to impact in people's lives.  I want something real, lasting, and meaningful.
The perspective changed everything when I ventured into the farming business. Growing crops, yams, cassava, and pepper gives me a lot of joy. Farming isn’t all about feeding people; it also nourishes the body and soul.

I didn’t go into farming just to make money; I wanted to el!minute hunger in my community. I see farming not as a job but as a powerful tool for building a better future for the country. 

The land doesn’t cheat; it is so honest to human beings. If you work hard, it will reward you, no tricks or shortcuts. 
To all young people outside there, farming is not just for old people; it's not something to be ashamed of. It’s smart. It gives freedom and power.
